Student Services Process

Children who are suspected of having an educational disability can be referred by a teacher, parent or other individual. If a child is evaluated and found eligible for student services in accordance with the New Hampshire Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities, an interdisciplinary team develops an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that includes specialized instruction and related services as appropriate to meet his/her unique educational needs. In Hampstead, we maintain high expectations for our students regardless of disability, as well as a commitment to inclusion and ensuring that services and supports outlined in the IEP are provided in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). The Hampstead School District offers students with educational disabilities a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) until they earn a high school diploma or reach the age of twenty one. Please refer to the New Hampshire Procedural Safeguards Handbook for detailed steps in the process and timelines.
