School Board Launches Superintendent Advisory Search Committee

The Hampstead School Board announces the formation of a Superintendent Advisory Search Committee to assist in the process of identifying candidates to fill the superintendent position following the departure of the Superintendent Bob Thompson, effective June 30, 2026.

The committee is advisory in nature and will support the School Board by gathering stakeholder input, reviewing candidate materials, interviewing candidates, and providing feedback during the search process. The Committee will be Co-Chaired by School Board Chair Andy Kiburis and Central School Principal Dr. Terrilyn Cheney.

The Superintendent Advisory Search Committee will be composed of a diverse group of stakeholders representing the district and community, including:

  • Two School Board members

  • One district-level administrator

  • One building-level administrator

  • One community member

  • One parent

  • Two instructional representatives (one from Hampstead Central and one from Hampstead Middle School)

  • One support staff representative

  • One Student Services representative

The Committee Co-chairs will facilitate the initial screening process and recommend candidates for interview by the Advisory Search Committee during the week of January 12, 2026. Committee members will provide feedback to the Co-chairs who will advance 2-3 successful candidates to the School Board for consideration.

The School Board values broad representation and perspectives as it undertakes this important leadership transition and appreciates the feedback and perspective of our stakeholder groups.

Committee members will need to have broad availability the week of January 12th, 2026. If you are a parent or community or staff member who would like to be considered for membership on the committee, please let us know of your interest by following this link

Additional information regarding the search process and timelines will be shared as it becomes available.
