The Hampstead Superintendent Advisory Search Committee Co-Chairs Andy Kiburis (School Board Chair) and Dr. Terrilyn Cheney (Principal, Central School) are pleased to announce Mr. Joseph Crawford will be moved forward as candidate for Superintendent for consideration at the January 27, 2026 meeting of the Hampstead School Board.

Mr. Crawford brings with him decades of experience in leadership, curriculum, instruction, assessment, budgeting, and systems development as a Teacher, Team Leader, Assistant Principal, and current Assistant Superintendent in the Derry Cooperative School District. He is also a Co-Founder and former Director of Next Charter School in Derry, NH.

The School Board’s Superintendent Advisory Search Committee was privileged to interview a highly qualified and experienced pool of candidates. Each applicant brought strong credentials, leadership experience, and a sincere commitment to public education, making the committee’s work both thoughtful and engaging.

The initial goal of the Advisory Search Committee was to advance at least two candidates to the School Board for consideration. After interviewing the pool of candidates, and after careful consideration, Mr. Crawford’s background, leadership experience, and student first perspective aligned so uniquely well with the specific needs and priorities identified by the School Board and community, that the Committee made the decision to move Mr. Crawford forward as their only candidate to the School Board.

The District will host an informal meet and greet with Mr. Crawford at the Hampstead Middle School starting at 6:00pm on January 27, 2026. Following the meet and greet, Mr. Crawford will be presented to the School Board at their conclusion of their regularly scheduled meeting around 8:00pm.

The Committee and School Board extends its sincere appreciation to all candidates for their interest in serving the district and for the professionalism demonstrated throughout the search process.
