HMS 5th graders in Mrs Howard's FLEX class have been learning about the Aberfan disaster in their informational writing class. On Tuesday they invited Gaynor Medgwick into their classroom via GoogleMeet. Ms Medgwick is one of the last surviving students from the Aberfan Disaster in Wales in 1966 and recounted the harrowing experience and her subsequent journey of reconnecting and advocating. Through personalize learning experiences like this our teachers are able to make history come alive for our students. Well done Mrs Howard!!

Last week our very own 2nd grade teacher Marla Proulx presented at the NH Superintendents Association first ever "Unconference" in Concord! Mrs. Proulx's session featured "the Grammies Program" as a means of helping to meet students' needs through opportunities for Intergenerational connection, adding another consistent trusted adult and personalized care for students facing unique life challenges - at no cost to the district! The room was packed with teacher-leaders and administrators from around the state who were enamored with the WIN-WIN-WIN this arrangement offers to schools. Our a partnership with the Friends Program (a division of AmeriCorp Seniors) began in 2006 and since then 13 Foster Grandparents have volunteered a total of 143,500 hours served (and counting!) at HCS! Thank you Mrs. Proulx for highlighting all of the benefits of this endearing program. More information is available here: www.FriendsProgram.org If you know someone who might be interested in becoming a Foster Grandparent please reach out to Maggie at the Friends Program at 603-228-0141 or via email fgp@friendsprogram.org.

Boys B lost 40-26 against Timberlane. What a season the boys had. Finishing the regular season 8-4 and making to the finals is something to be proud of. The boys played their hearts out and tried their best. A tough loss, but we will bounce back next year.
